Global Attractivity, Oscillations and Chaos in A Class of Nonlinear, Second Order Difference Equations

Abstract

The asymptotic properties of a class of nonlinear second order difference equations are studied. Sufficient conditions that imply the types of behavior mentioned in the title are discussed, in some cases within the context of the macroeconomic business cycle theory. We also discuss less commonly seen types of behavior, such as the equilibrium being simultaneously attracting and unstable, or the occurrence of oscillations away from a unique equilibrium.
