El sistema intercomunicacional: de los medios al cambio social mundial

Resumen

En este trabajo ofrezco una serie de herramientas conceptuales destinadas a explicar los procesos de comunicación social en la sociedad mundial, y su relación con las dinámicas de cambio social. La exploración teórica se estructura en torno a dos supuestos sociológicos. El primero sostiene que la dinámica de la comunicación social, en la mayoría de las sociedades nacionales, se ha determinado a partir de la conjunción de cuatro factores principales: i) la transformación material del sistema intercomunicacional (SICO), ii) la programación ideológica de macrodispositivos unidireccionales; iii) la programación técnica de los dispositivos multidireccionales de comunicación, y iv) la matriz cambiante de los individuos en sus respectivos estratos sociales. El segundo supuesto, de carácter más general, es que la forma y el contenido que adquiere la nueva dinámica de la comunicación social, en relación con los distintos factores mencionados, tienden a reforzar los impulsos de integración simbólica de la sociedad mundial. Luego de presentar el concepto de SICO, en el presente artículo me concentro en el desarrollo de los cuatro factores contenidos en la primera suposición. A partir de ello extraigo algunas conclusiones provisorias.
